RHONY's Ramona Singer Pulled a Knife on Her Abusive Father - Wetpaint

While most fans would argue we’ve gotten to know Ramona Singer pretty well over her seven years on Real Housewives of New York , there’s still a lot we don’t know about the show’s OG star. But that’s all about to change when her new memoir drops next week. The revealing tell-all, titled Life on the Ramona Coaster , won’t be released until Tuesday, July 28, but Bravo’s Daily Dish has an excerpt from the book, which serves as a dark glimpse into Ramona’s childhood. Though we’ve seen some indication of that troubled past here and there on the reality show, we didn’t realize just how bad it was. In one passage from the book, the 58-year-old details the abusive relationship she had with her father while growing up — one that came to a head during her teen years. According to Ramona, one night when she was 15, she and her mother were preparing dinner when her father came in demanding to be fed, becoming aggressive toward both of them. “My father growls that I am useless and I will never amount to anything,” she writes. “He calls me cruel and demeaning names, some of which I don’t fully understand. I try to tune out his voice. the hateful words he utters. But, no matter how hard I try, his badgering is getting to me. He gets in my face. I can smell the rancid alcohol on his breath and see the rancor in his eyes. Then he gets in my mother’s face, alternating scathing insults between us. Something he says, I can’t recall what, hits a nerve. My life flashes before my eyes. From there, things turned violent, and Ramona recalls “images of my mother’s battered face begging me to call the police,” as her father threw plates and pulled her mom’s hair. Sadly, her mother did eventually allow her dad to return to the family home — but this time, Ramona wasn’t backing down from this “bully. She says of her mother, “How can she stay married to this abusive man. Maybe she’s given up, but I haven’t. I have to protect her. Sooner or later my father is going to cross that line again and I never want him to hurt her the way he did that night in the kitchen. In that instant, I resolve to stop my father before he takes it too far. What she describes next is pretty intense: A then-adolescent Ramona takes a large butcher’s knife from the cutlery drawer and charges at her father. “I lunge toward him, point the sharp blade directly at. Bates Motel: 10 Actresses Who Should Play Marion Crane - WhatCulture

With Bates Motel chalking up three seasons, the source material of Alfred Hitchcock and Robert Bloch’s Psycho is being well and truly left behind. Yet a major character who could enter the action from the book/movie is Marion Crane, the secretary from out of town, on the run with her bosses’ money. The film fools viewers into thinking she’s the protagonist as it follows her from the scene of the crime to the threshold of a seemingly-harmless, family-run establishment. But of course she’s about to meet a gory demise in the most infamous shower scene in cinema history. Producer Carlton Cuse has stated he’s not that interested in sticking to the plot of the original shocker. However the death of Marion was the world’s first glimpse of the horror behind the handsome facade of Norman Bates, so the writers must at least be bearing this factor in mind. The show recreates the classic architecture of the Bates’ home turf… so why not throw one of its most notorious customers into the mix. From up and comers to established talent, here are ten actresses who could step into the shoes of 1960s star Janet Leigh… a line up that would be enough to make Norman reach for his mother’s wardrobe/cutlery drawer several times over. 6 Tips for a Healthier, Happier Work Lunch - Business News Daily

Nearly everyone has fallen victim to the sad desk lunch — all of those tasteless salads, calorie-ridden frozen microwavable meals, soggy paper plates and broken plastic utensils really get old after a while. There's even a Tumblr blog dedicated to the trials and tribulations of eating bland, boring lunches at your desk every day. But eating lunch in your office doesn't have to be a bad or unhealthy experience. If you're willing to skip the fast food in favor of healthy, home-cooked meals and snacks, and make a few changes to your routine, you can turn your formerly sad desk lunch into a tasty, relaxing break from the work day. Here are six tips for planning and enjoying a full week of healthier, happier work lunches. Invest in better containers. First things first: Before you can even think about packing the perfect work lunch, you need to have the right containers to put your lunch in. Sandwiches can get squished in plastic baggies, and cheap plastic containers can melt in the microwave,... If you plan to pack your lunch often, be sure to invest in better, more sustainable food containers in a variety of sizes, like mason jars. bento boxes. and sturdier, spill-proof containers that can withstand your trips to and from the office. If you're not sure what kind to buy, check out this roundup from Good Housekeeping. A reusable, easy-to-clean, insulated lunch bag to keep cold foods cold and warm foods warm can't hurt, either — plus, it looks a lot more put together (and is more environmentally friendly) than carrying your lunch in disposable brown-paper bags. Plan and prep meals on Sundays. Things get hectic throughout the week, and if you're not careful, by Wednesday, you'll end up finding some excuse not to pack your lunch and spending more money on food during your lunch break. By planning and cooking ahead of time, you eliminate those excuses and solve that problem. Before the workweek starts, plan out your menu, and get all of the ingredients you need together. Then, cook everything that can be cooked in advance, and if need be, freeze foods for later in the week. If you have enough containers available, it's also a good time to pack your lunches for the week so you can just grab your lunch and go in the morning. If not, pack your lunch for the first day, and for the rest of the week, just assemble the next day's meal at night. Source: www.businessnewsdaily.com
